Product designer (contract)

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Product Designer to take on the digital work at the core of our studio. Someone genuinely exceptional, who can move fluidly between designing apps, crafting standout websites, and thinking in systems.

We'll be direct: this is a demanding role. We're after a gifted designer who can hold the whole picture. You'll design digital products and large-scale websites, bring real creative craft to web design, architect systems-thinking sites that scale, build and maintain design systems, and use AI as a core part of how you work. Not a novelty, but a genuine multiplier on what you can ship.

Ideally you don't just use AI tools, you build with them. Either way, you get ideas into something tangible fast, and you care about the details that make digital work feel considered and alive.

It starts as a 6-month contract, but we're not just looking for coverage. We're building. For the right person, there's a real path to keep going.

The Role

Digital Products & Websites

  • Design and ship product experiences across apps and large-scale websites, from flows and wireframes through to high-fidelity UI
  • Take projects from concept and strategy through to polished, responsive, thoughtfully-built work
  • Turn client briefs and product thinking into intuitive, well-crafted experiences

Creative Web Design

  • Bring a strong creative point of view to web: layout, typography, motion, and interaction that elevates the brand
  • Treat web design as a first-class creative discipline, not a downstream production step
  • Own the details that make a site feel alive: responsive behaviour, micro-interactions, motion, performance

Systems Thinking & Design Systems

  • Architect large, systems-thinking websites where structure, scale, and consistency matter
  • Build and maintain design systems and component libraries that scale across web and product work
  • Bring order and reusability to complex projects without losing the creative edge

AI-Native Workflow

  • Use AI tools and agents as a core part of how you design, prototype, and produce work
  • Prototype quickly: get ideas into working, testable artifacts rather than static mockups
  • Ideally comfortable enough with how frontend works (components, layout, responsive behaviour) to direct AI tools and get closer to shipping
  • Help drive AI adoption and better workflows across the studio

Collaboration

  • Partner with strategy on insights-driven, user-centred design
  • Work closely with developers so designs ship faithfully, and get hands-on where it helps
  • Present work to clients and articulate the thinking behind it with confidence

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years of digital/product design experience across apps and large websites
  • Strong UI/UX fundamentals: systems thinking, product intuition, and real craft
  • A portfolio full of work you made: digital products, standout websites, and systems that scale
  • Genuine creative web design ability: layout, typography, motion, interaction
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems
  • Deep fluency with AI as part of your design workflow, and ideally the ability to build with it (tools like Cursor, v0, Lovable, Claude, or similar), which is a strong plus
  • Enough frontend awareness to make ideas tangible fast; the ability to direct AI tooling well is a bonus
  • Fluency in Figma; agency or design studio background
  • The ability to sell a design decision to a client and explain it to a junior designer in the same afternoon

The details

Location: Vancouver, BC. 4 days in office, 1 day remote

Type: Contract, 6 months, with a path to extend

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 to 5
